Colors echo
between a Norway maple and a tiger lily

and then a little bee
imitates
the shape of the lily's anthers




like open parentheses

and you know the parallels will go on
always
between them

as well as
between you and me
as we keep changing positions

to understand each other.

I thought I could change the world. It took me a hundred years to figure out I can't change the world. I can only change Bessie. And, honey, that ain't easy either.
